Hypnosis for Fears and Phobias
Imagine a life controlled by fear and anxiety, where every movement is scrutinized and even the smallest decision is agonized over. Hours are spent examining daily tasks or situations that most people endure easily.
According to the National Institute of Health, approximately 40 million adults in the United States who suffer from anxiety disorders live this kind of existence.
About 18 percent of Americans have some form of a panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder generalized anxiety disorder or phobias, such as a social phobia, agoraphobia, or a specific phobia, which embody common fears of things like elevators, heights or germs.
A phobia is an irrational fear, the experience of which can produce an irrational response â such as pulling your hair out, or a massive response where your body systems are involved. We describe it in our everyday language âsweating with fearâ, âparalyzed with fearâ, âbutterflies in the stomachâ, etc. The word âphobiaâ originates from a god of ancient Greece â Phobias the god of Fear. There are countless definitions of phobia, but the most apt one defines a phobia as âany persistent fear of a specific stimulus object or situationâ. Phobia is from the Greek meaning to fear or dread. It is more than a simple fear or being afraid. It is to be totally terrified of the stimulus.
How Many Sessions or Therapy will be Needed?
The number of sessions that will be needed to release a person from their phobia will depend upon many things, not limited to, the clientâs personality type, maturity, desire to overcome the phobia, and also how deep the phobia is seated and how long it has been in place.
Releasing phobias can take from 1 to 4 sessions and will use several techniques to diffuse the fear response in your sub-conscious. Here at the Taylor Hypnosis Center, I will use a system called 5 Path which will desensitize the issue causing the reaction to the stimuli. Many fears will be released by finding the cause of the problem, the initial trauma and releasing it or de-sensitizing it. I will also teach you self-hypnosis to allow you to reinforce the calm feeling that is a result of your session or sessions.
Most phobias can be traced to an initial sensitizing event or ISE. There may be a number of subsequent events or SSEs that will reinforce the trauma or ISE that initially is responsible for the phobia.
